About college of Anesthesiologists

The college of Anesthesiologists of Sri Lanka was registered in 2010 as a Company Limited by Guarantee incorporated under The Companies Act No. 07 of 2007.

In late 2010 the College purchased a property in close proximity to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka & The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children.-Colombo 8.

The membership* of the college of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka, now stands at about 300.
At present there are about 175 board certified college members work as consultant anaesthetists in government & private sector hospitals in Sri Lanka all most all of them are members of the college of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka.
There are more than 80 board certified college members * work in overseas hospitals as consultant anesthetists. (Mainly in UK and Australia)

* Any registered Medical Practitioner who holds a postgraduate qualification in anaesthesiology from a body recognized by The College of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka and who applies for membership with membership fee may be duly elected by the Council as an Ordinary Member.

Objectives of the College of Anaesthesiologists of Sri Lanka
(i) achieve and maintain the highest standards of clinical practice of anaesthesia, critical care and pain management in the country
(ii) To advance the knowledge of and promote research in anaesthesia, critical care and pain management
(iii) To promote and advise on training and education in Anaesthesiology, critical care and pain management and
(iv) To promote fellowship among those associated with these specialties.
